- BEAGLE BROS ANNOUNCES BEAGLEWORKS: The True Meaning of Integration
-
- The seven powerful modules of BeagleWorks allow you to integrate
- information with unprecedented flexibility and convenience. The key to
- BeagleWorks' integration is the linking of information between documents,
- using a revolutionary technology called In-Context Editing in combination
- with Publish and Subscribe.
-
- Like other integrated programs for the Macintosh, you can copy information
- prepared in one module then paste that data into another module. Most folks
- agree that this is a useful feature, but it's not what we call true
- integration. BeagleWorks uses Publish and Subscribe to hot-link material
- between documents with two simple keystrokes: Option-Copy and Option-Paste.
- And because a custom System 7-style Edition Manager is built into the
- application, BeagleWorks also supports Publish and Subscribe under System
- 6.0--with no sacrifices in functionality.
-
- BeagleWorks' In-Context Editing lets you make changes to data placed into
- any of the modules without having to leave the module in which you are
- working. Just double-click on the data to edit and the tool bar and menus
- automatically change to those of the module you used to create the data.
- This unique feature lets you edit a spreadsheet block or color graphic, for
- instance, in the context of a word processor document you placed it into.
-
- When you make changes to a linked item, the original document is
- automatically updated with the changes. And if you change the original
- document, the linked item changes too. Of course, you can "freeze" these
- links if you want to, and the original data will no longer change. This
- two-way communication between documents allows you to freely edit linked
- material, without the inconvenience of always having to go back and edit
- the original document. Information can be linked between all BeagleWorks
- modules (except Communications) and with other applications that support
- Publish and Subscribe.
-
-
- SHARED FEATURES
-
- Unlike some "integrated" programs that offer a few common features in all
- modules, those features are usually limited to the standard filing and
- editing commands. BeagleWorks offers much closer integration, in every
- module:
-
- o Smart cut and paste lets you link documents by selecting material in one
- document and pasting it into another. The documents are linked using
- Publish and Subscribe--even under System 6.0!
-
- o In-context editing lets you edit information linked from other
- documents, no matter what module you used to create it.
-
- o System 7.0 support includes Publish and Subscribe, Balloon Help,
- TrueType, Apple Events, Virtual Memory, 32-bit addressing, file aliases
- and color icons.
-
- o Context-enhanced tool bar contains shortcuts for the tools and commands
- you use most. Many tools are common in each module, other items on the
- tool bar change as you move between modules.
-
- o Full page preview lets you see exactly how your document will look
- before you print, with side-by-side pages and on-screen headers and
- footers.
-
- o XTND technology allows importation of a wide variety of the most popular
- file formats, including Microsoft Works. AppleWorks 3.0 files can be
- read directly from 3.5" ProDOS disks.
-
- o Character type styles let you define the font, size, style, and color of
- text, then use the style definitions you create in any kind of
- BeagleWorks document.
-
- o Adjustable "snap-to" grids let you quickly and perfectly align objects
- and graphics in any BeagleWorks document. Objects "snap" to an invisible
- grid which you control the size of.
-
- o BeagleWorks document windows include horizontal and vertical rulers,
- two- and four-pane split windows and view sizes from 25% to 800%.
